Steps to Becoming a WSRM Volunteer

Serving the least, the last, and the lost is the best work in the world, but it requires perserverence, patience, and people skills! Are you up for the challenge? We'd love to match your giftings, talents, and passions with the opportunities available here. Join the team of over 100 unique volunteers who help to make the work of rescue possible!

Getting started - groups and/or one-time volunteer opportunities

We welcome groups (school classrooms, families, Sunday School groups, friends, etc.) to get involved at Water Street Rescue Mission! Ongoing, group opportunities include sorting donations or serving meals. Other special projects are available throughout the year, like painting, raking leaves, fixing roofs, planting trees, etc. Simply call (717) 358-2040 or email volunteer@wsrm.org to sign up or request opportunities for groups.

Getting started - individuals

All individuals looking to volunteer on an on-going basis first attend a Volunteer Orientation to learn how they fit into the big picture of Water Street Rescue Mission. These sessions also allow potential volunteers to fill out a volunteer application and certain clearance forms required for serving here.

To sign up for the monthly Volunteer Orientation (schedule listed below), please email volunteer@wsrm.org or call (717) 358-2040.
